Cordura RFQs with Fewer Undefined Inputs

Prepare the material, sample, commercial and delivery information needed to compare offers on the same basis.

Build the RFQ

RFQ requirements

Application

Identify the finished product, component location, expected wear, weather, care and service environment.

Material

State polymer or fiber, yarn denier, weave, target GSM and tolerance, full and usable width, color and finish.

Performance

Name abrasion, tear, tensile, colorfastness or hydrostatic-head method, specimen condition, direction and pass level.

Commercial

Provide sample quantity, production quantity, acceptable MOQ, target date, packaging, incoterm and destination.

Do not substitute “heavy duty,” “waterproof” or “military grade” for measurable requirements. These phrases hide different constructions and test conditions. Where a requirement is still open, mark it as a selection question rather than presenting it as approved.

Sample-to-bulk path

  1. 1

    Screen swatches

Compare construction, mass, surface, backing and initial hand against the product geometry.

  2. 2

    Confirm development sample

Use the appropriate color, coating, print or yardage format and record what decision it supports.

  3. 3

    Build and test a prototype

Check seams, folds, hardware, lamination, movement and exposure under application-relevant conditions.

  4. 4

    Approve production criteria

Lock relevant values, tolerances, shade reference, methods, document scope and change triggers.

  5. 5

    Review the production lot

Reconcile lot identity, roll inspection, required test evidence and shipping documents before release.

MOQ is construction-specific

MOQ can be affected by yarn, dye route, color, coating, finish and available greige. Ask whether the quoted minimum applies per color, construction or order.

Lead time starts after defined approvals

Distinguish material availability, color development, trial yardage, testing, bulk production and transit. A target date without approval dependencies is not a production commitment.

Price comparisons need one basis

Align width, GSM, coating, quantity, currency, incoterm, packaging, test responsibility and sample cost before comparing unit prices.

Evidence travels with scope

Ask which entity, construction, color, finish and validity date each report covers. Certification names alone do not establish product applicability.
